Angela originally trained as a contemporary dancer and choreographer graduating from London Contemporary Dance School in 1995, and worked in the performing arts industry for a number of years. During this time she developed a passion for teaching and after working as an unqualified teacher for two years, completed a PGCE in dance. Angela has worked across various secondary schools in London for 26 years. As she progressed through her career she recognised a passion for supporting and engaging more vulnerable children and soon recognised and promoted the need for joined up multi agency work that supports both the child and their family to achieve more positive outcomes. In recent years, Angela has been the Headteacher of Northgate School in Barnet, a pupil referral unit and hospital school that supports children with mental health challenges. She has been fortunate to work with Dr Amit Biswas as part of the multi-disciplinary team and advocates for the early intervention model, to prevent children and adolescents reaching crisis point. She firmly believes that schools have a significant role to play in providing the right support needed to increase young people's chances to remain and be treated in the community and is committed to this approach in her interactions with colleagues across the secondary school network.
